Holly and Jolly Christmas Stovetop Potpourri

How your home smells during the Christmas season can make or break the experience for you and your guests. With this delicious aroma, prepare for your best holiday season yet!

This Christmas simmer pot can be cut up fresh and added directly to a pan or dehydrated for packaging. This article will focus on the dehydration method, as these will make a unique gift for the party host or your kid's teacher to anyone in between.

Ingredients:

Fresh cranberries

Oranges

Apples

Cinnamon sticks or pinecones

Orange oil

Ground cinnamon

Ground cloves

*Quantities are not precise as you make the potpourri by your nose and how you want the colors to look.

Step 1: DEHYDRATE

Thinly slice the apples and oranges ( 1/4 inch) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

*cranberries can be dehydrated whole.

Set your oven to 200 degrees and put the fruit into the oven.

Flip and rotate your slices every two hours and continue to do so until the fruit is dry. This process usually takes 8-10 hours.

Step 2: PACKAGE

My favorite way to package potpourri is in a jar, but party favor bags work great, too.

Before closing the container, lightly dust the potpourri with ground cloves and cinnamon. At this time, add a few drops of orange oil, too.

Step 3: DIRECTIONS

Add a small card or tag indicating what to do with the potpourri.

How to use potpourri

Pour 3 cups water and two teaspoons vanilla extract (optional) into a pan. Add potpourri and simmer for 4-6 hours or until the aroma fades.
